Trick or Threat: Have a Harrowing Halloween...

(Image from Wikipedia)

Some of you may recall the fascinating Extreme Pumpkins site from my post on Dani's Flaming Head. Go there this Halloween for all your jack-o'-lantern needs.

Or for some of your Jacko-Lantern needs ... to frighten off those annoying trick-or-treaters. Or even more frighteningly ... to attract them.

To keep an eye on Jacko, we need the original jack-o'-lantern, "a night watchman ... or man with a lantern," according to Wikipedia.

Meanwhile, enjoy your Halloween.

Hallowe'en and the raising of the dead. Oh, to raise Milton with a bit of critical necromancy and put all the hard questions to him! I quite like Hallowe'en, sitting down with a horror story and eating Yorkshire parkin! A bit of nostalgia, nothing like it.

Yorkshire parkin? I learn something new every time you post a comment. I guess the Gingerbread Man was actually the Yorkshire Parkin Man.

But "parkin"? Where's that word come from?

According to "The Great British Food Trust", they don't know where the name came from but think maybe some lady by the name of Parkin or Perkin must have had a great reputation for her version of it. Here is the link:

Yes, I wanted to know to after reading the comment, lol.

Thanks, Cynthia. So the answer is ... it's a mystery.

Happy Halloween! Today I posted a true ghost story that happened to me over 13 years ago. You may be interested in it!

Love the pumpkin site, BTW. I've always envied people that can carve the truly intricate pumpkins...
